Airspace restrictions - due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine

1 Introduction

As directed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Icelandic Transport Authority has issued airspace restrictions within the Icelandic territory due to the Ukraine crisis.  
As directed by the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority, the Icelandic Transport Authority has issued airspace restrictions over Jan Mayen. 
As directed by the Danish Transport Authority, the Icelandic Transport Authority has issued airspace restrictions over Greenland and the Faroe Islands. 

2 Airspace restrictions within Icelandic territory, including territorial waters

All Russian registered aircraft and aircraft owned, chartered, or operated by natural or legal persons from the Russian Federation or by operators holding air operator certificate (AOC) Issued by the Russian Federation authorities Including as a marketing carrier in code-sharing or blocked-space arrangements are prohibited to enter, exit or overfly Iceland’s territory Including territorial waters.
Any aircraft operated by Belarusian air carriers, including as a marketing carrier in code-sharing or blocked-space arrangements, are prohibited to land in, take off from or overfly Iceland’s territory including territorial waters.
This does not apply for emergency landing or emergency overflight.
Applications for exemptions shall be submitted to fly(at)icetra.is at least 48 hours before flight.

3 Airspace restrictions within Norwegian territory over Jan Mayen

All Russian registered aircraft and aircraft owned, chartered, or operated by natural or legal persons from The Russian Federation or by operators holding air operator Certificate (AOC) Issued by the Russian Federation authorities are prohibited to enter, exit or overfly airspace over the territory of Norway, including Jan Mayen. 
Belarus air operators and Belarus aircraft are not permitted in airspace over Norwegian territory.
Emergency landings are exempted.
For any other purpose of flight, application must be submitted to traffic(at)caa.no at least 48 hours before flight.

4 Airspace restrictions within Danish territory, including territorial waters

The government of Denmark has decided that Applicable as of 27 th of February 2022 at 2300 UTC no aircraft owned, chartered, or operated by citizens of the Russian Federation, operators holding air operator certificate (AOC) issued by the Russian Federation authorities, or aircraft registered in the Russian Federation shall enter, exit or overfly the airspace of the kingdom of Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands), including in the airspace above the kingdom of Denmark’s territorial sea.
 
This does not apply to humanitarian, SAR, and leased aircraft one-way return flights with the permission of the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway authority or in case of Emergency landing or emergency overflight.
Applications for Prior approval for exempted flights shall be submitted to  info(hjá)trafikstyrelsen.dk at least 48 hours before flight.
