Construction work at stand 10 Keflavik Airport (BIKF)

1 Introduction

It’s planned to build an extension to the south terminal to the east. The building will consist of two passenger floors, a technical room on the roof and service corridor underneath the bottom slab. The building will be just under 1.900m 2 in size.

2 Estimated validity

Estimated construction period is from January 2024 through May 2025.
Any impact from construction site will be announced by NOTAM if necessary.

3 Project

Construction work at South terminal.  
Fence will be put around aircraft stand 10 in January 2024. Stand will be closed during construction period.
Estimated time for groundworks Is January to March 2024, mainly excavation for foundations and service corridor.
In spring 2025 stands 77 and stand 79 will be changed and the current primary stands will be removed but current secondary stands remain.
The taxi lane and service road will be moved to the east, the location of the service road is temporary, but the service road will be moved at head of stand once construction finishes.
From March 2024 to January 2025 the contractor will cast foundations erect steelworks, cast slabs, install cladding system and technical room on roof.
The work will require crane work.
This project is scheduled to be completed in Mai 2025.

4 Impact from construction site on flight safety

The contractor´s site will be located on stand 10 and the site will be fenced off during the construction period. 
Stand 10 will be closed during construction.
Service road and taxi lane behind stand 10 will be in operation during construction. 
It will be ensured that no FOD from construction site will affect the apron area.
The contractor will enter the site through the Golden and Silver gate.
